we hear these stories, and we think

We want someone to throw caution to the wind for us. For more than just a few weeks or months. For huge stretches of time, over and over again. Trusting not just in the roll of the dice once, but in the initial roll and every shoot that follows.

Of course, it could be argued that's exactly what happened, for better or worse. At least on the first roll.

Other people's stories are not your own; each ending is specific, and different.
And who knows when each story is done?
