something else to be jealous about

My friend Anna was trying to decide if she wanted to start a blog, so I gave her my thoughts. "i think you should," I said. "it's fun. it kills time." But also, I said, there are issues with privacy and audience and secrets. "i alternately want people to know everything and nothing about me, and this is the problem with posting your innermost thoughts online." Still, I told her, why not? She can take it down whenever she wants, after all. Do it! And then I came up with my new motto:

"it'll be fun until it's not, and then you don't have to do it anymore."

Oh, how I must remember this for everything!

Meanwhile, she sent me a link to the friend's site that inspired her, mihow.com.

So pretty, so clever.
So jealous.
