The fabulous Ms C works for the (less fabulous) NY Post and thoughtfully gave my number to a writer who was doing a story on dating. "Talk to my friend Meg!" she said. "I'm sure she has lots of stories." And I did. I told her a tale from a year and a half ago and the Post reporter was very nice and today Ms C emailed me and said "Pick up the paper. Page 45." And sure enough, there I am telling my tale of embarrassment and gentle rejection for all to read. I don't care about the context; I just like being quoted as though I was a person of newsworthy significance. Awesome!
More awesome, and far funnier, is "Dorkstorm: The Annihilation," an article by Seanbaby about the ten geekiest hobbies, that big geek Austin Mike posted today. I don't understand how Furries and Plushies aren't at #1, but maybe that's because it's less hobby, more highly disturbing "lifestyle choice."
"6. Vampirism....The costumes and makeup required for this hobby are elaborate, so if you don’t have time every morning for a Dracula makeover, you can send the same message by just wearing a sign reading, "I hate my parents and my classmates beat me." To make this slightly more vampiric you may want to add the word "Blah!" at the beginning and end of the sentence." - Seanbaby
Glad to know all those reporting techniques I learned at my college
newspaper are actually put to use in the real world.
